Deacon and Deaconess
Our qualification for the role of a deacon or deaconess is based on 1 Timothy 3:8-13
- Worthy of respect, sincere, temperate
- Making their living reputably
- True to the Word of God
- Not indulging in alcoholic beverages
- Wives must be temperate, kind, non-malicious
- The husband of one wife
- A good father and disciplinarian
The Deacon Ministry at St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church acts as a strong support to the Pastor. The Deacons and deaconesses help relieve the Pastor of any load that he is unable to attend to.
Crisis Intervention
Provide crisis ministry for members and those in the community in times of special need (death, financial crisis, etc.). This is the church benevolence committee.
Prayer Chain
Praying individually and as a group for the specific needs of our church.
Baptism
Assist the pastor in administering baptism. The deacons and deaconesses help provide a spiritual atmosphere of love and courtesy
Lord's Supper
Assist the pastor in administering the Lord's Supper.
Administer Communion to the Sick & Shut ins.
